Skovby Furniture Factory was founded in 1933 by cabinetmaker Thorvald Rasmussen. With vision, hard work and expertise, he laid the foundation for the Skovby we know today: a Danish furniture company with a strong belief in fine craftsmanship, thoughtful functionality and furniture made to last.

Since then, his son Villy Rasmussen and grandsons Preben and Jørgen Rasmussen have continued the company in his spirit. Over three generations, we have evolved with the times while staying true to what matters: good craftsmanship traditions, natural materials and the ambition to create furniture where function and design go hand in hand.

Today, Skovby is an internationally oriented, high-tech company, yet we remain 100% Danish-owned and family-owned. Our roots are evident in the way we design, develop and manufacture – and, not least, in the people who contribute every day to passing on our expertise and craftsmanship. Behind every piece of Skovby furniture are people with experience, expertise and pride in their craft.

Skovby design is rooted in a proud Danish design tradition and more than 90 years of experience in furniture manufacturing. For three generations, functionality has been a driving force – inspired by a fascination with bringing form, function and technology together in harmony.

For us, good design must be more than beautiful to look at. It should work in everyday life, meet real needs and adapt to the way we live. That is why we continually challenge the way furniture can be used and explore how a piece of furniture can do more.
